Independent reading is the key to developing fluency, comprehension and a love of reading.  A child who reads a lot in books at the appropriate level of difficulty builds skills quickly and confidently, with a minimum of frustration and struggle.

How Does this Program Help You Support Your Child’s Independent Reading?

This program makes it easy to find the right books for your child by providing you with two important tools. The Reading Development Booklist summarizes hundreds of enjoyable, age-appropriate books, divided into sections according to level of difficulty. The teacher will work with each student and provide you with an individualized Book-Level Assessment identifying the right level of books for your child. As a result, you will be confident that you are providing your son or daughter with good books at the appropriate level of challenge.
